Fidelis is a program dedicated to equipping women to be virtuous mentors in their community. In recent years, many studies on youth ministry have found that the influence of ordinary, lay adults on young people is more important than we ever realized. However, we should have always known this to be true, as anyone who has studied Scripture knows that the most ominous warning of bad things to come is when one generation does not instruct the next in God’s covenants. We are firmly committed to making sure that your women can say boldly with the psalmist, “we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.” (Psalm 78:4). The more compartmentalized young people are from older generations the more prone they are to leave the Faith, as they have few pictures of a lived Christian life. Many young women rarely get to encounter on a regular basis a model of Christian virtue. We want to change that.
So – Fidelis is built on a team of women, not a single personality, but rather a team of women in various places of their own life. The program and weekly gatherings are planned, prepared and faithful to the Church’s teaching. We just ask the women to Seek Holiness in their own lives, build friendships with the young ladies and then mentor with excellence. It is a simple formula – but has a proven success rate.
